IT Advice - First Choice PCs
Computers can save lots of time but every business needs to have the right system and software if it is to maximise its return from any investment in IT. Whilst a lot of our clients will be quite happy running Sage or QuickBooks from a standalone PC, others would benefit from setting up a server, to co-ordinate different work stations and integrate data. Once data starts to get shared across a server security becomes a bigger issue.
We do not pretend to know everything about IT, so we have formed an alliance with First Choice PCs, a business run by Dave Williamson, which specialises in business IT development, servers and security issues. We work closely with Dave Williamson to ensure that your accounting software is then set up to maximise the efficient use of your staff, that your data is securely backed up, and that you receive all the training you require.
With respect to the software you use, most of our clients operate with Sage or QuickBooks, and we can provide and install the software for you, and provide training specific to your business. If you would rather go on a public course run by Sage, we can offer these at a price discounted from those published by Sage.
As your business grows you may want to have some software to keep track of your contacts and potential sales leads – we can supply copies of Act! by Sage, and the appropriate training. Act! is a CRM (customer relationship manager) program, and can integrate with both Sage and outlook to co-ordinate your customer database.
We can also offer advice and support on other bespoke software to be used for accounting purposes (for example some clients use an industry specific invoicing program, which then links back to Sage for accounting purposes).
